The qualifying learner is capable of describing the framework of workplace health and safety legislation pertaining to health and safety representatives, explaining the specified requirements to conduct safety, health and environmental representation activities at a workplace, addressing safety, health and environment related issues within their scope of authority as well as complying with the activities within safety, health and environmental structures.

This skills programme is aimed at persons who work or intend to work within the Conveyor Belt system of a production/excavation, Surface mining or plant activities and who seek recognition for essential skills in this area.

This Skills Programme Consists of the following Sub Skill Modules:

  • Sub Skill Module 2 Explain basic health and safety principles in and around the workplace.
  • Sub Skill Module 19 Select, use and care for engineering power tools.
  • Sub Skill Module 47 Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to fires in working places.
  • Sub Skill Module 67 Maintain a conveyor belt installation.
  • Sub Skill Module 105 Select, use and care for engineering hand tools.
  • Sub Skill Module 106 Apply and maintain safety in a working environment.
  • Sub Skill Module 431 Cut mild steel by means of an oxy-acetylene cutting torch (version 2).
  • Sub Skill Module 432 Inspect, use and care for manual lifting equipment and tackle.
  • Sub Skill Module 774 Conveyor: Conduct continuous hazard identification and risk assessment within a workplace
